ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,309,554, issued on May 20, was assigned to Starkey Laboratories Inc. (Eden Prairie, Minn.).
"Automatic selection of hearing instrument component size" was invented by Jingjing Xu (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and Justin Burwinkel (Eden Prairie, Minn.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An example method includes capturing, via one or more sensors of a computing system, a representation of an ear of a user; determining, based on the representation, a value of a measurement of the ear of the user; and selecting, based on the value of the measurement, a length of a wire or tube of a hearing instrument to be worn on the ear of the user."
