US Patent Issued to SRAM on April 22 for "Bicycle crank arm" (Taiwanese, German Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,280,852, issued on April 22, was assigned to SRAM LLC (Chicago).

"Bicycle crank arm" was invented by Hong-Chou Lee (Taichung, Taiwan), Chen-Hsiung Chen (Taichung, Taiwan), En-Chieh Chen (Taichung, Taiwan) and Joachim Stuermer (Schweinfurt, Germany).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A bicycle crank may include a first lug, a second lug and a transition region. The first lug is for connecting a spindle. The second lug is for connecting a pedal. The transition region interconnects the first lug and the second lug, and is formed from a fiber reinforced thermoplastic material that includes a fiber component and a thermoplastic component."
