ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,216,668, issued on Feb. 4, was assigned to Spotify AB (Stockholm).

"Media content playback for a group of users" was invented by Mark Kizelshteyn (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Andreas Jansson (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Tracey Churray (New York) and Mark Koh (New York).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods, systems, and computer programs for generating a playlist of media content items for a group of users. Media content items listened to by the selected users are compared to an average user taste profile to select media content items for playback to the group of users."

The patent was filed on June 5, 2023, under Application No. 18/329,442.
