ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,303,402, issued on May 20, was assigned to SPINE WAVE INC. (Shelton, Conn.).
"Spinal interbody fusion device" was invented by Scott McLean (Sandy Hook, Conn.), Haibo Fan (Woodbridge, Conn.) and Steven Wolfe (Juno Beach, Fla.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A bellows shaped spinal implant, comprising an upper plate, a lower plate and a bellows shaped shell extending between and joining the upper and lower plates. The bellows shaped shell is formed of titanium or an alloy comprising titanium and includes a wall extending therearound that defines a hollow interior.
