ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 29 -- United States Patent no. 12,208,514, issued on Jan. 28, was assigned to Sphero Inc. (Greenville, Texas).

"Inductive coupling across a moving boundary of a mobile device" was invented by Richard Rhodes (Broomfield, Colo.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method of inductively coupling a first body and a second body is provided, wherein the first body rotates relative to the second body. During rotation, alignment is maintained between a first and second coil. Signals are sent and received between the coils."

The patent was filed on March 27, 2023, under Application No. 18/190,479.
