ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 10 -- United States Patent no. 12,290,938, issued on May 6, was assigned to Sony Group Corp. (Tokyo).
"Robotic arm system, method and computer program" was invented by Christopher Wright (London), Bernadette Elliott-Bowman (London) and Naoyuki Hirota (Tokyo).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A robotic arm system for surgery is described. The method includes: processing circuitry configured to: apply a virtual barrier preventing a human controlled surgical device from entering an area within a surgical scene; and release the virtual barrier in response to a gesture."
