ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,382,097, issued on Aug. 5, was assigned to Sony Group Corp. (Tokyo) and Sony Corporation of America (New York).

"Inter-frame attribute coding in geometry-based dynamic point clouds compression" was invented by Alexandre Zaghetto (San Jose, Calif.), Danillo Graziosi (Flagstaff, Ariz.) and Ali Tabatabai (Cupertino, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An attribute prediction and compensation scheme for geometry-based dynamic point cloud compression is described herein. A combination of multiple reference frames are able to be used as a predictor for current frames. The method described herein improves efficiency and accuracy."
