ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,384,878, issued on Aug. 12, was assigned to SOLVAY SPECIALTY POLYMERS USA LLC (Alpharetta, Ga.).

"Downhole tool member comprising a branched poly(hydroxyacid)" was invented by Bryan Benson (Ball Ground, Ga.), Franck Touraud (Eyzin Pinet, France) and Yves Vanderveken (Leuven, Belgium).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention relates to downhole tools comprising members comprising branched poly(hydroxyacid) polymers provided with improved degradation rate when in contact with water."
