According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A wristband is provided for use with a timepiece, the wristband comprising a band, at least one photovoltaic cell which is retained by the band, a rechargeable battery which is retained in the band is in electrical communication with the photovoltaic cell and an electrical connection from the rechargeable battery for electrical communication with the timepiece. A solar powered watch is also provided."
