"Phone case for tracking and localization" was invented by Ilteris Kaan Canberk (Marina Del Rey, Calif.), Matthew Hallberg (Los Angeles) and Richard Zhuang (San Diego).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A case for a portable device like a smartphone includes light sources such as LEDs, which, when illuminated, can be detected and tracked by a head-worn augmented or virtual reality device.
