ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,546,106, issued on Feb. 10, was assigned to Simpson Strong-Tie Co. Inc. (Pleasanton, Calif.).
"Drywall hanger" was invented by Thomas G. Evans (Dublin, Calif.), Paul Bernard McEntee (Fremont, Calif.) and James M. Benton (Tracy, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A connection utilizing a joist hanger to hang a joist or beam from a wood structural support member such as a top plate or header in cooperation with a first plurality of fasteners such as screws and one or more substantially vertical fire-resistant panels such as drywall."
The patent was filed on Sept. 1, 2021, under Application No. 17/464,609.
