ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4 -- United States Patent no. PP36,714, issued on June 3, was assigned to Sierra Gold Nurseries Inc. (Yuba City, Calif.).
"Pistachio hybrid rootstock named '19PaPi-SY'" was invented by Micah Stevens (Yuba City, Calif.), Reid Robinson (Yuba City, Calif.) and Charles Brannon (Yuba City, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct pistachio tree named '19PaPi-SY' developed for use as a rootstock and notable for its vigor, amenability to in vitro propagation, asphyxia tolerance and compatibility with Pistacia vera scions."
The patent was filed on Aug. 4, 2023, under Application No. 18/230,583.
