According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A user interface for displaying and entering a wind bearing comprises a circle or broken circle with one or more markings about its perimeter. The displayed marking or markings correspond to a relative wind direction input by a user. The displayed markings are able to update automatically as the user faces a new direction."
