ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,484,374, issued on Nov. 25, was assigned to Sharp K.K. (Sakai, Japan).

"Light-emitting element and light-emitting device" was invented by Masataka Iwasaki (Sakai, Japan) and Yoshihiro Ueta (Sakai, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A light-emitting element includes the following: a cathode; an anode; a light-emitting layer provided between the cathode and the anode; an electron transport layer provided between the cathode and the light-emitting layer; and a potential well provided between the cathode and the light-emitting layer, and being a region having a larger electron affinity than a surrounding region."
