ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 30 -- United States Patent no. 12,371,610, issued on July 29, was assigned to Sharp K.K. (Osaka, Japan).

"Light-emitting element and method for manufacturing light-emitting element" was invented by Hirofumi Yoshikawa (Sakai, Japan), Tatsuya Ryohwa (Sakai, Japan), Masaki Yamamoto (Sakai, Japan) and Takahiro Doe (Sakai, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A light-emitting element includes a light-emitting layer, and the light-emitting layer includes a plurality of quantum dots covered by shells containing a ferritin protein."

The patent was filed on Feb. 4, 2020, under Application No. 17/793,593.
