ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 31 -- United States Patent no. 12,508,291, issued on Dec. 30, was assigned to SHANXI ACADEMY OF ADVANCED RESEARCH AND INNOVATION (Shanxi, China).

"Antitumor virus" was invented by Shan Gao (Shanxi, China), Yingzi Cui (Shanxi, China), Zhou Tong (Shanxi, China) and Fu Gao (Shanxi, China).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed is a virus inhibiting Wnt signaling and a method for Wnt signaling using the virus. Also disclosed is a method for treating tumors using the virus."

The patent was filed on Jan. 20, 2021, under Application No. 17/794,217.
