ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,296,169, issued on May 13, was assigned to SetPoint Medical Corp. (Valencia, Calif.).

"Batteryless implantable microstimulators" was invented by Ralph J. Zitnik (Santa Barbara, Calif.), Michael A. Faltys (Valencia, Calif.), Jacob A. Levine (West Hempstead, N.Y.) and Jesse M. Simon (Koh Phangan, Thailand).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods and apparatuses (e.g., devices and systems) for vagus nerve stimulation, including (but not limited to) sub-diaphragmatic vagus nerve stimulation.
