ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,216,877, issued on Feb. 4, was assigned to SEOUL NATIONAL UNIVERSITY R&DB FOUNDATION (Seoul, South Korea).

"Triboresistive touch sensor" was invented by Jeong-Yun Sun (Seoul, South Korea), Younghoon Lee (Gwangmyeong-si, South Korea) and Sungsoo Lim (Incheon, South Korea).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present disclosure relates to a triboresistive touch sensor capable of generating electric power by electrification and electrostatic induction, and thus sensing a touch position without a grid."

The patent was filed on Sept. 29, 2022, under Application No. 17/955,604.
