ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,353,173, issued on July 8, was assigned to SEIKO EPSON Corp. (Japan).

"Watch" was invented by Atsushi Kobayashi (Shiojiri, Japan), Shoki Mukaide (Shiojiri, Japan) and Kentaro Hara (Azumino, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A watch includes a dial including, in plan view, a central portion having a non-conductive surface, and an outer peripheral portion provided at an outer periphery of the central portion and having a conductive surface, and a case electrically coupled to the outer peripheral portion and electrically coupled to a case back."

The patent was filed on Sept. 15, 2022, under Application No. 17/945,211.
