ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,287,610, issued on April 29, was assigned to SEIKO EPSON Corp. (Japan).

"Watch component, and watch" was invented by Takeshi Sakamoto (Chino, Japan), Kazunori Hoshino (Matsumoto, Japan), Takahiro Seki (Shiojiri, Japan) and Ken Wakita (Minowa, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A watch component having an oxide film formed by oxidizing a base material containing iron as a main component, an average film thickness of the oxide film is from 70 nm to 145 nm, and a variation in film thickness of the oxide film is equal to or less than 35%."

The patent was filed on Oct. 19, 2021, under Application No. 17/504,846.
