ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,417,787, issued on Sept. 16, was assigned to Seagate Technology LLC (Fremont, Calif.).

"Hard disk drive with dynamically designated media zones for archiving and performance" was invented by Riyan Alex Mendonsa (Edina, Minn.) and Jon D. Trantham (Chanhassen, Minn.).
