US Patent Issued to Seagate Technology on Aug. 5 for "Energy-assisted recording head with C-shaped delivery waveguide core" (Minnesota Inventor)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,380,918, issued on Aug. 5, was assigned to Seagate Technology LLC (Fremont, Calif.).

"Energy-assisted recording head with C-shaped delivery waveguide core" was invented by Chubing Peng (Eden Prairie, Minn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A recording head includes a near-field transducer proximate a media-facing surface of the recording head. A light delivery waveguide extends from an energy source to the near-field transducer.
