ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 23 -- United States Patent no. 12,365,876, issued on July 22, was assigned to SDF BioPharma (San Diego).

"Genetically modified stem cells" was invented by Gerald F. Swiss (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) and David Kiewlich (Alameda, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Described herein are human transgenic beta cells expressing fugetactic levels of CXCL12 to a subject in need thereof. Also described herein are beta cells comprising a transgene comprising a nucleic acid sequence encoding CXCL12."

The patent was filed on July 25, 2023, under Application No. 18/358,659.
