"Emulsifier for synthetic-based mud, process for preparation, and drilling method" was invented by Dimitri M. Khramov (Katy, Texas) and Evgeny Borisovich Barmatov (Cambridge, Great Britain).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Improved emulsifier for synthetic-based mud, process for preparation, and drilling method. The emulsifier has the formula (II) wherein each R1 is a C4 to C30 alkyl; R2, R3, R5, and R6 are each independently selected from H, C1 to C4 alkyl, C1 to C4 alkoxyalkyl, and C1 to C4 hydroxyalkyl; n and m are independently integers from 1...
