ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,387,016, issued on Aug. 12, was assigned to SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY Corp. (Sugar Land, Texas).

"Preserving wellbore integrity during carbon dioxide injection" was invented by Terizhandur S. Ramakrishnan (Boxborough, Mass.) and Daniel Morrell (Katy, Texas).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Embodiments presented provide for a method to negate debonding of the casing from a cement in a wellbore. In one embodiment, the cement around the casing is set with a sufficiently large residual compressive stress, preventing the deboning."

The patent was filed on Dec. 7, 2022, under Application No. 18/062,659.
