US Patent Issued to Scandit on Sept. 23 for "Local verification of an identity document based on optical pattern recognition" (Swiss Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 23 -- United States Patent no. 12,424,011, issued on Sept. 23, was assigned to Scandit AG (Zurich).

"Local verification of an identity document based on optical pattern recognition" was invented by Moritz Zimmermann (Zurich, Switzerland), Oliver Akermann (Zurich, Switzerland) and Christian Kundig (Zurich, Switzerland).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An identity document can be authenticated using format data of a barcode on the document, such as a barcode on a driver's license."

The patent was filed on Jan. 11, 2023, under Application No. 18/153,150.
