ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,459,816, issued on Nov. 4, was assigned to Saudi Arabian Oil Co. (Dhahran, Saudi Arabia).

"Hydrogen sulfide dissociation using reactive sulfur species" was invented by Adrian Cesar Cavazos Sepulveda (Nuevo Leon, Mexico) and Damian Pablo San Roman Alerigi (Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The disclosure relates to methods of irradiating a gas containing hydrogen sulfide (H2S) with high energy light to photolytically cleave some of the hydrogen sulfide in the gas to form sulfur-containing reactive species. The sulfur-containing reactive species act as autocatalysts that react with some of the remaining hydrogen sulfide...
