ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,357,285, issued on July 15, was assigned to Saphena Medical Inc. (West Bridgewater, Mass.).
"Unitary device for vessel harvesting and method of using same" was invented by Mark Orphanos (Foxboro, Mass.) and Michael Glennon (Norwell, Mass.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Unitary vessel harvesting devices with integrated components is provided. In some embodiments, such devices comprise an elongated body having a proximal end and a distal end, a dissection tip disposed at the distal end of the elongated body. The dissection tip can include integrated circuitry to provide an in-tip camera, lighting and data communications."
