ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,331,294, issued on June 17, was assigned to SANOFI (Paris).
"MicroRNA compounds and methods for modulating mir-21 activity" was invented by Balkrishen Bhat (Cambridge, Mass.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Described herein are compositions and methods for the inhibition of miR-21 activity. The compositions have certain nucleoside modification patterns that yield potent inhibitors of miR-21 activity. The compositions may be used to inhibit miR-21, and also to treat diseases associated with abnormal expression of miR-21, such as fibrosis and cancer."
The patent was filed on Aug. 18, 2021, under Application No. 17/405,482.
