ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,459,238, issued on Nov. 4, was assigned to SAINT-GOBAIN SEKURIT FRANCE (Thourotte, France).

"Laminated vehicle glazing and device comprising an associated near-infrared vision system" was invented by Laurent Maillaud (Aubervilliers, France) and Maxence Wilmet (Aubervilliers, France).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A vehicle laminated glazed unit includes a first extra clear glass sheet (exterior glazed unit), a lamination interlayer, and a second glass sheet (interior glazed unit) with a through-hole, wherein the second sheet includes a piece and a masking layer for attaching that piece onto the first sheet."
