ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,258,638, issued on March 25, was assigned to SafeTraces Inc. (Pleasanton, Calif.).

"Airborne pathogen simulants and mobility testing" was invented by Ulrike W. Hodges (Berkeley, Calif.), Quin Chou (Pleasanton, Calif.), Erik Malmstrom (San Jose, Calif.) and Phil M. Arnold (Redwood City, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Airborne pathogen mobility and the airborne mobility of respiratory droplets, such as saliva, and testing thereof, can be monitored by tracking detectable compounds and measuring concentrations."

The patent was filed on Feb. 2, 2021, under Application No. 17/165,935.
