ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,275,916, issued on April 15, was assigned to S H KELKAR & COMPANY Ltd. (Mumbai, India).

"Odorant secondary alcohols and their compositions" was invented by Freddy Post (Arnhem, Netherlands), Leszek Doszczak (Amersfoort, Netherlands), Nitesh Chaudhari (Mumbai, India) and Raju Kapse (Mumbai, India).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to new classes of odorous alcohols (odorants) derived from 2,3-dimethylbutene which are useful as fragrance or flavor materials in particular in providing natural piney olfactory notes with a complex profile to perfume, aroma or deodorizing/masking compositions."
