ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,467,407, issued on Nov. 11, was assigned to RTX Corp. (Farmington, Conn.).
"Stacked cryogenic bottoming cycles" was invented by Brandon M. Evans (San Antonio) and Neil J. Terwilliger (Cheshire, Conn.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An aircraft propulsion system includes a core engine, a first bottoming cycle and a second bottoming cycle that utilize different working fluids having different critical temperatures such that each of the bottoming cycles have different heat absorption capabilities."
The patent was filed on July 12, 2024, under Application No. 18/771,038.
