US Patent Issued to RTX on Feb. 3 for "Knife seal wear measurement" (Maine Inventor)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,540,556, issued on Feb. 3, was assigned to RTX Corp. (Farmington, Conn.).

"Knife seal wear measurement" was invented by Isaac Jon Hogate (Farmington, Maine).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A coated knife edge seal member has an annular knife edge having: a flank having a first end face and a second end face. The knife edge has: a tip converging to a rim; and an annular reference datum. The member has a metallic substrate and a coating on the substrate at the tip."

The patent was filed on June 28, 2024, under Application No. 18/757,924.
