ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,234,735, issued on Feb. 25, was assigned to RTX Corp. (Farmington, Conn.).
"CMC BOAS with overlapping seals" was invented by Joseph Micucci (Scarbourough, Maine), Daniel S. Rogers (Lyman, Maine) and Morely S. Sherman (Portsmouth, N.H.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A gas turbine engine includes a turbine section that has a seal system disposed in interfaces between adjacent blade outer air seals. The seal system includes a first seal and at least one second seal that partially overlaps the first seal, the at least one second seal is configured to bias the first seal into a sealing position."
