US Patent Issued to RTX on Feb. 10 for "Internally cooled brush seal backing plate and method" (Connecticut, Illinois Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,546,230, issued on Feb. 10, was assigned to RTX Corp. (Farmington, Conn.).

"Internally cooled brush seal backing plate and method" was invented by Christopher Peterson (Roanoke, Ill.) and Howard J. Liles (Newington, Conn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A cooled brush seal for use with a CMC component of a gas turbine engine having a hot side exposed to a hot gas path and an opposing side having a cavity for feeding a cooling flow to at least one film cooling hole.
