ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,492,648, issued on Dec. 9, was assigned to RTX Corp. (Farmington, Conn.).
"Modulated air-cooled heat exchanger for hybrid electric thermal management systems" was invented by Thomas E. Clark (Wells, Maine), Bryan Kupferman (Norwalk, Conn.) and Ethan K. Stearns (Lebanon, Conn.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A gas turbine engine includes a fan section, a heat exchanger, and inlet door. The fan section is configured to generate an airflow. The heat exchanger is configured to transfer heat from a thermal management system to the airflow. The inlet door is configured to modulate the airflow to the heat exchanger."
