ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 20 -- United States Patent no. 12,394,179, issued on Aug. 19, was assigned to RTX Corp. (Farmington, Conn.).

"Performing vane classification for turbine engines using structured light three-dimensional (3D) scans" was invented by Kun Tong (West Hartford, Conn.), Tracy A. Propheter-Hinckley (Rocky Hill, Conn.), Venumadhava Ponnala (East Hampton, Conn.) and Andres Diaz Alvarado (Humacao, Puerto Rico).
