ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 31 -- United States Patent no. 12,512,994, issued on Dec. 30, was assigned to ROYAL BANK OF CANADA (Toronto).

"System and method for zero-knowledge facial recognition" was invented by Arya Pourtabatabaie (Orlando, Fla.) and Joseph Choi (Oviedo, Fla.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A computer implemented system for electronic verification of credentials including at least one processor and data storage is described in various embodiments. The approach describes the architecture and use of a "max gate," which can be used as a structural component of the neural network."
