ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,330,335, issued on June 17, was assigned to Rolls-Royce plc.

"Fused silica tooling for high temperatures ceramic matrix composite sintering" was invented by Adam C. Healey (London).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method of manufacturing a ceramic matrix composite component includes casting a tool and placing a ceramic matrix composite layup on the tool. The method further includes sintering the ceramic matrix composite layup at a predetermined sintering temperature at atmospheric pressure while the ceramic matrix composite layup is supported on the tool."

The patent was filed on Nov. 10, 2022, under Application No. 17/984,781.
