ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 13 -- United States Patent no. 12,527,110, issued on Jan. 13, was assigned to Rockley Photonics Ltd. (Altrincham, Great Britain).

"Photodiode for wearable devices" was invented by Benjamin Ver Steeg (Redlands, Calif.), Sean Merritt (Lake Forest, Calif.) and Adam Gardner (Mission Viejo, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention provides a photodiode for a wearable sensor system, the photodiode having a rectangular active area sensitive to wavelengths within the spectral range of 1200 nm to 2400 nm. The present invention also provides a wearable sensor system comprising the photodiode."
