ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,460,253, issued on Nov. 4, was assigned to ROCHE SEQUENCING SOLUTIONS INC. (Pleasanton, Calif.).

"Spatially oriented quantum barcoding of cellular targets" was invented by Garry P. Nolan (Redwood City, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention is a method of simultaneously detecting the presence and spatial location of a target in a tissue sample by attaching an anchor to the target and assembling unique positional barcodes on the anchor. The method enables analyzing cellular targets in 3D."

The patent was filed on Dec. 4, 2019, under Application No. 17/295,020.
