ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,253,055, issued on March 18, was assigned to Robert Bosch GmbH (Stuttgart, Germany).
"High-pressure fuel pump" was invented by Thomas Froihofer (Brackenheim, Germany), Rainer Kornhaas (Stuttgart, Germany), Guido Bredenfeld (Friedrichshafen, Germany) and Stephan Wehr (Heiligenstadt, Germany).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A high-pressure fuel pump has an inlet valve and a pressure-limiting valve which fluidically connects a high-pressure region to an inlet valve region located, in terms of geometry, between the inlet valve and an electromagnetic actuator of the high-pressure fuel pump, which acts upon the inlet valve via a tappet."
