ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,246,547, issued on March 11, was assigned to ROAMBEE Corp. (Santa Clara, Calif.).

"Provisioning a smart label in a printer" was invented by Pankaj Patel (Santa Clara, Calif.) and Vidya Subramanian (Santa Clara, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "One example may include detecting, via a printer, a radio enabled label, retrieving, via the printer, an identifier from a local wireless communication device to assign to the radio enabled label, sending, via the printer, the identifier to a memory of the radio enabled label, and assigning the identifier to a plurality of microcontrollers embedded in the radio enabled label."
