ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,251,826, issued on March 18, was assigned to Roam Robotics Inc. (San Francisco).
"Pneumatic exomuscle system and method" was invented by Saul Griffith (San Francisco), Pete Lynn (Oakland, Calif.), Della Shea (San Francisco), Kevin Albert (San Francisco) and Tim Swift (Clovis, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A pneumatic actuator that includes a plurality of elongated inflatable chambers stacked lengthwise in an array from a top-end to a bottom end, the plurality of elongated inflatable chambers defined by an inextensible body that is inextensible along one or more plane axes of the body while being flexible in other directions."
