ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,304,573, issued on May 20, was assigned to RIVIAN IP HOLDINGS LLC (Irvine, Calif.).
"Spare wheel containers for a vehicle" was invented by Jonathan Szczupak (Orange, Calif.), Jonathan David Salerno (Newport, Calif.) and Aaron Weast (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A vehicle includes a system for storing containers in a cavity of a spare wheel at an exterior of the vehicle. The system includes a dock having a bracket secures the wheel to the exterior surface of a vehicle with an outer face of the wheel facing inwards toward the vehicle and the cavity of the wheel facing outwards away from the vehicle.
