ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 16 -- United States Patent no. PP37,150, issued on Dec. 16, was assigned to Rio Vista Farms Inc. (Selma, Calif.) and University of Georgia Research Foundation Inc. (Athens, Ga.).
"Blueberry plant named 'CBG-23-03'" was invented by D. Scott NeSmith (Griffin, Ga.) and Gregory Willems (Kingsbury, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The new variety of blueberry 'CBG-23-03' is characterized by having large, firm, berries that ripen early in the season and have a long shelf life. The berries have excellent color and a sweet, aromatic flavor with mild acidity and a clean finish. Further, the berries of the new variety 'CBG-23-03' are crisp with a smooth texture."
