ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4 -- United States Patent no. 12,317,946, issued on June 3, was assigned to Riddell Inc. (Des Plaines, Ill.).
"Protective sports helmet chinstrap assembly" was invented by Ralph Infusino (Bloomingdale, Ill.), Nelson Kraemer (Mount Prospect, Ill.) and Vittorio Bologna (Elk Grove, Ill.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A chin strap assembly is provided for use with a sports helmet. The chin strap assembly includes an inner pad member, a strap assembly and an outer protective member. The outer protective member is coupled to the strap assembly by an attachment member, such as a post. A sports helmet with the chin strap assembly is also provided."
