ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,416,090, issued on Sept. 16, was assigned to Research & Business Foundation Sungkyunkwan University (Suwon-si, South Korea) and Institute For Basic Science (Daejeon, South Korea).

"Catalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction and preparing method of the same" was invented by Hyoyoung Lee (Uiwang-si, South Korea) and Yang Liu (Suwon-si, South Korea).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed is a catalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) including: a first transition metal matrix; and a second transition metal oxide formed on the first transition metal matrix; wherein a hydroxyl group is introduced on the second transition metal oxide."
