According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A liner for a label. The liner has a plastic ply and a paper ply. The plastic ply is fused to the paper ply with a binder. Indicia printed on the paper ply is visible through said plastic ply. The plastic ply includes a release material and a face ply of the label includes adhesive. The label includes a face ply. The plastic ply is releasably secured to the face ply."
